2021 Chenin Blanc 

This inaugural release of Chenin Blanc exudes characteristics that harken back to its old-world roots, while simultaneously reflecting the rugged new world slopes of the far western Sonoma Coast.The nose bursts with notes of ripe Bartlett pear and baked red apple, with creamy undertones of lemon curd, fresh honeysuckle, and a hint of salinity in the form of fresh sea air, creating a remarkably complex profile. The captivating aromatics segue into a plush palate loaded with quince, candied ginger, and toasted vanilla. Racy and vibrant acidity brought on by the cold, harsh, and distinctly maritime climate of our estate vineyard cut like a knife as this wine finishes textured and full bodied from 16 months of aging in 100% neutral French oak barrels.

2020 Bicentennial Chardonnay

Boasting a lemon-colored core with brightness as it reaches the edges of the glass, this wine harnesses a delicate balance of both richness and restraint. Aromas of toasted vanilla and brioche surround elements of baked apple, white flowers, and macerated white peach. Full bodied as it coats the palate, this Chardonnay leads with flavors of apple crisp and lemon peel while more restraint is shown via chalky, wet stone notes and crushed rock. A long, textured finish from extended sur lie aging adds depth, while crisp, lingering acidity leaves the mouth watering.

2019 Stagecoach Road Pinot Noir

Last of the Pinot Noirs, the 2019 Pinot Noir Stagecoach Road is another Pinot Noir sourced entirely from the estate Fort Ross Vineyard in the northern part of the Sonoma Coast. Possibly my favorite in the lineup, it’s wonderfully complete and has a lovely assortment of red and black fruits as well as foresty, earthy, spicy, and subtle herbal notes that carry to a medium-bodied, flawlessly balanced Pinot Noir. With a solid underpinning of acidity, ripe yet building tannins, and a great finish, I like it today, but smart money is on it benefiting from a year or two of bottle age and easily evolving through 2032. This is another terrific effort from this estate with loads of character.

The 2019 Stagecoach Road Pinot Noir is exceptional: supple in texture, full bodied, and moderately rich in flavor (raspberry, strawberry jam, cherry, black tea, toast, oak), with excellent balance and a very persistent finish. Delicious. Can be aged further. 

2018 Pinotage

Intense aromas of dark berry compote and lychee soar from the glass with hints of fragrant gardenias, white pepper and anise chiming in.This deep garnet Pinotage has a concentrated depth of bold flavors that envelop the palate with tiers of blackberry, cassis and black plum framed by baking spices and ginger. Prominent dark berry fruit is in complete harmony with the persistent tannins, balanced acidity and long, perfumed finish.The layered textural complexities and robust flavors pair beautifully with exotic spices, rich Italian food, smoked and grilled meats, anything from a wood fired oven and for the adventurous - sweet berry desserts. Prior to release, this wine was patiently cellared until optimal, but it will certainly age gracefully for years to come.
