2017 STAGECOACH ROAD PINOT NOIR

94 Points - Wine Advocate
The 2017 Pinot Noir Estate Stagecoach Road has slowly opening aromas of roasted cranberries and blackberries accented by potpourri, Earl Grey tea leaves, dusty earth, woodsmoke and cola. The palate is medium-bodied, silky and nuanced with loads of spicy, bitters-like accents and great freshness, finishing long and layered.

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast
From a selection of Calera grapes grown on the extreme coast, this wine offers spice, wax and edgy acidity. Pomegranate, tangerine, cherry and mint flavors follow along a structured, complex and lengthy palate of balanced tannin and oak, finishing in lasting earthiness. —Virginie Boone

93 Points - James Suckling
This has impressive aromas of ripe and rich dark cherries, swathed in sweetly fragrant baking spices and some earthy complexity, too. The palate has a sturdy, regal style of tannin that carries a smooth and ripe array of juicy dark-cherry flavor. Drink of hold. September, 2019.

92 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
Another classic example of the vintage, the 2017 Pinot Noir Stagecoach Road has loads of spiced red and black fruits, bouquet garni, toasted nuts, and a touch of seaside-like salinity to go with a medium-bodied, round, elegant style on the palate. With ripe tannins, good overall balance, and a great finish, it should be impressive for 7-8 years.

★★★★★ EXCEPTIONAL - Restaurant Wine, Ronn Wiegand MS/MW
The 2017 Stagecoach Road is a rich, ripe Pinot Noir on a medium full framework. It is intensely flavored with notes of strawberry, cherry, black tea, clove, and toasty oak, well balanced, and very long and lingering on the finish. Outstanding. Warrants further aging.

2017 TOP OF LAND PINOT NOIR

93 Points –  Wine Advocate
The 2017 Pinot Noir Estate Top of Land takes its time to unfurl to cranberries and blackberries with nuances of black tea, woodsmoke, dusty earth and amaro. The medium-bodied palate is spicy and nuanced with a grainy frame and long, uplifted finish.

93 Points –  James Suckling
Dried leaves, sweet tobacco, spices and dried red and dark cherries abound here. This has impressive layering of fine tannin and ripe, fresh red cherries that build nicely into the long, plush and silky finish. Drink or hold. September, 2019.

93 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
Aged 10 months in 45% new French oak and all from the estate Fort Ross Vineyard, the 2017 Pinot Noir Top Of Land gives up an elegant, layered, medium-bodied style that offers more dark berry fruits, mulberries, toasted spice, and dried earth nuances. It's complex and has a seamless texture, polished tannins, and a good finish. This is another charming, balanced, classic wine from this address.

★★★★+ EXCELLENT - Restaurant Wine, Ronn Wiegand MS/MW
The Top of Land is complex and vibrant, an excellent Pinot Noir in a medium-full style that is balanced, crisp, long on the palate, and persistent on the finish, tasting of cherry, rose petal, pomegranate, and toasty oak. Very fine quality; can be aged.

2017 THE TERRACES PINOT NOIR

93 Points - Wine Advocate
Medium ruby, the 2017 Pinot Noir Estate The Terraces features aromas of crushed cranberries, red cherries and rhubarb accented by cola, dusty earth and black tea leaves. The medium-bodied palate  is spicy, nuanced and fresh with a grainy frame and long finish.

92+ Points - Jeb Dunnuck
Bright black cherry, candied violets, Asian spice, and some cedary herb notes emerge from the 2017 Pinot Noir The Terraces, which is medium-bodied and has a fresh, focused texture, good acidity, and a great finish. It's going to benefit from a year or two of bottle age.

92 Points - Wine Enthusiast
This is from an estate site close to the ocean and planted entirely to the Calera clone within one terraced block. High toned in currant, forest and tea, it is earthy throughout, with bright, underlying freshness and crisp layers of black cherry, raspberry and orange.

92 Points - James Suckling
Attractive violet flowers here with a fresh array of blueberries and cherries, leading to a palate that has a succulent, juicy and sleek feel with sturdy, supple tannins, carrying long and even. Drink or hold. September, 2019.

★★★★★ EXCEPTIONAL - Restaurant Wine, Ronn Wiegand MS/MW
The 2017 Terraces, from Terraced Block #11, is exceptional: full bodied and fairly rich in style, it is round and well balanced, tasting of black currant, cherry, raspberry, rose petal, black tea, and toasty oak. Warrants at least 2 more years of aging.
