25 GREAT AMERICAN PINOT NOIRS Sonoma Coast is a large, catch-all appellation, but Fort Ross really deserves the name, situated as it is on the high cliffs overlooking the Pacific. It produces small quantities of cool-climate varietals, including Pinot.
